Authority, fuel, and a truck payment keep moving only while you do. Some owner-operators look at indexed universal life for a longer time frame than a one-year term. Whether a carrier will offer it depends on you, not on the fact that you own the truck.
Indexed universal life (IUL) is permanent life insurance. Interest credited to the cash value can be linked to a market index, with caps, floors, and charges set by the carrier. It is not an investment. A licensed agent explains cash value, costs, and limits. Underwriting varies by job and by carrier. A hazardous job is not a promise of coverage.
Bills that stay when the truck is parked
- A truck or trailer note a spouse or co-signer may still owe
- Business insurance and household bills coming from the same settlements
- Coverage tied to a lease-on carrier that ends if you switch
- No employer benefits booklet to fall back on between loads
Owner-operator questions
Can the policy be about the truck note and the family at the same time?
I am leased on. Is that the same as a company driver for benefits?
Will cash value pay the truck off?
General information, not insurance advice. Products, availability and pricing vary by insurer and state.
